Jean-Claude Boisset Reviews

Score: 89 | November 1, 2012 | Wine Enthusiast
This is finely structured, with its ripe tannins forming a solid base for the dense red fruit and spicy wood flavors. It’s soli and chunky, showing its youth through the rich texture. Age for 3–4 years.

Butterscotch, clove and nutmeg aromas and flavors meet peach and citrus notes in this well-oaked white. Ever-so-slightly coarse on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2020. 300 cases made.

A ripe but attractively layered and perfumed nose of dark cherry and violet aromas leads to round and nicely rich middle weight flavors that possess good vibrancy on the attractively persistent finish. This is not an especially elegant Chambolle, but then Chardannes rarely is, and the tannins and mouth feel are consistent with that touch of toughness the vineyard typically displays.

A fragrant and concentrated 2009, this wine is full and rich, its texture more dense satin than Chambolle’s airy silk. The cherry flavors run deep and the tannins are broad and supple, with hints of earthy funk in the aroma adding complexity to the fruit. A fine expression of the vintage.
